Located in Lisbon, the intervention at Pestana Palace seeks to preserve and enhance the unique character of one of the city’s most remarkable historic interiors. The project establishes a dialogue with the palace’s architectural heritage, respecting its ornamental richness, symmetry and classical proportions while introducing a renewed sense of comfort and contemporary elegance. Carefully selected furniture, textiles, lighting and decorative elements complement the existing frescoes, mouldings, gilded details and original finishes without competing with them.

The intervention is guided by a balance between history and contemporary living, allowing the palace to retain its grandeur while becoming warmer, more comfortable and relevant to today’s experience. Rich colours, refined materials and a curated mix of classic and contemporary pieces create layered interiors with a strong sense of identity.

The result of this interior design project by Pedro Espírito Santo for Dueto Arq is a space of timeless elegance, sophistication and continuity, where the heritage of the building remains at the centre of the design.
